I'm interested! What do we do to join?
Manatawna-Saul 4H is a livestock club that enables children between the ages of 8 and 18, who do not live on a farm, to learn to care for, show, and sell livestock. The club works as a cooperative: parent involvement is a must! Although the individual arms of the clubs have leaders to teach the children about the beef or sheep or swine, parents (or another adult they authorize) join their children at the farm for the experience. We meet weekly for several hours and do a lot of hard work! Animals must be fed, pens cleaned, and animals walked and trained for show. Members are 'trained' as well in how to clip and shear and show. Parents also join their children on the trips to the shows, which can involve a few days or a full week (for some summer shows) depending on the show. The hard work pays off as the children and teens grow in confidence and responsibility. Click the link above for 'more information.' |
